How To Submit a Personal Recipe
On the navigation bar, select Your Account > Your Profile, then Personal Recipes from your profile page.
To submit a new recipe, click on the gray Add a Recipe box.
The recipe submission form includes ten input fields–simply input your recipe details into the appropriate field. Incomplete recipes are not usually selected for Kitchen Approval.
- Upload a photo
Show off the finished dish! Photos can be submitted at the same time as the recipe and need to be at least 960 x 960 pixels. - Prep time
Active time spent preparing ingredients or parts of the recipe e.g. chopping, mixing, etc. - Cook time
Time where heat is applied e.g. baking, simmering, frying, etc. - Ready In time
Total time to prepare the recipe including prep time, cook time, and additional time spent marinating, chilling, rising dough, etc. - Servings
Number of portions you will get from the recipe. Most commonly an even number: 2, 4, 8, 12, etc. - Yield
The amount a recipe produces e.g. 2 loaves for bread, 8 cups for soup, 1 1/2 quarts for ice cream, etc. - Recipe title
Choose a clear, descriptive title that will help other cooks find your recipe. - Description
A sentence or two describing the dish that will get the cook excited and tell him/her what to expect. Include tips or suggestions for substitutions or garnishes, if you have them. - Ingredients
Please list one ingredient per line. Be as descriptive as possible. List ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and cheese in the form your recipe calls for (chopped, diced, shredded, etc.) - Directions
Write out each step and be as thorough and descriptive as possible, using every ingredient that is listed. This will help cooks get a similar result to you!
Private, Public, or Submit for Kitchen Approval
Save your recipe in one of three ways.
- Private Recipe
The recipe can only be viewed by you and those visiting your Cook's Page will not be able to view the recipe from your Personal Recipes tab or through the recipe URL. - Public Recipe
The recipe can be viewed on your Cook's Page and shared via recipe URL/Pinterest/Facebook. Certain recipe page features on public, non-Kitchen Approved, recipes are not available such as appearing in search results, Nutrition Info, and shopping list categories. If you wish for your recipe to have access to our full set of recipe page features, consider submitting your recipe for Kitchen Approval. - Public and Submit for Kitchen Approval
Kitchen Approved recipes are the recipes you see onsite and are submitted by other cooks. All recipe page features are available on Kitchen Approved recipes such as appearing in Search, Nutrition Info, Scaling, and more.
Recipes are chosen based on seasonality, uniqueness, quality, completeness, and other factors. Each one must be reviewed to be sure it isn't already copyrighted, and then they are edited and matched to our nutrition database. We like to keep a good balance of recipes on the site and are more likely to select recipes we do not already have versus one that’s a variation of something that already exists.
The time it takes for a recipe to be reviewed and/or published varies greatly. If your recipe is Kitchen Approved, you will receive a notification via email (congrats!). Full terms and conditions.
